My Journal Page
Journal Response: Prompt #2.
I don’t know about my earliest summer memory, but I loved my childhood summers. Me and my siblings were free to do whatever we wanted to within the fenced in yard and beyond. We made forts out of bushes growing along the forest fence. Ate young pears when mom announced the “kitchen is closed.” We rode bikes around the block, through the church parking lot, to Bails Grocery for candy bars. We swam in the lake, sunning on towels on the pier, and balanced on inner tubes. Caught blue gills and crayfish. Gently held toads while looking for crickets and worms. Swung whiffle ball bats and raced bases made from frisbees and tree trunks. Long, lazy evenings of strawberry ice cream cones from a wondering ice cream truck. Running around with fireflies before being sent to bed when the mosquitoes get hungry.
